All night long
I felt your absence,

burning.

In the pre-dawn hour,
hugging the warmth
of your shadow,
I sensed a beat

but no breath.

Behind the door
of my dreams
I whispered your name;
sorrow resonated

in the aftermath of silence.

I awoke this morning
on your side of the bed,
cold and unfamiliar,

adrift.

Since you left
I am at sea,
until you return
I’m lost,

in self-mutiny.
